A story of greed and darkness and a significant work of English literature, Heart of Darkness centers around Marlow, a sailor, and his journey up the Congo River to meet Kurtz, a man with a reputation for idealism as well as great abilities.

Marlow encounters widespread brutality and shows the exploitation of Africa at the hand of various European powers.
